Hold Qi up Älmhult [2012-01-28]

The first basic course in Älmhult was held in Brogård, the community center in the picturesque village of Pjätteryd just outside Älmhult. On our way to Pjätteryd Saturday morning our experience of nature was enhanced when we saw three majestic elks slowly crossing the road.

A nice group of both beginners and participants who had already taken the course attended the course. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed.

Here are some comments from the participants

Migraine and abdominal pain

“Since I had a migraine attack accompanied by severe abdominal pain with vomiting just a few days before the course, I wasn’t sure I could participate, considering that such problems usually last for about 2 weeks. I slept only 4 hours the night between Friday and Saturday, because my stomach was in turmoil. During Saturday the abdominal pain disappeared, and in the evening, although I was completely exhausted, I also felt very cheerful and happy. Now on Sunday, I feel refreshed and my stomach is fine. I think taking this course was the very best thing I could do.”

Back problems

“The course was recommended to me because I have back problems and get pain from standing. I liked the information we received in the lecture before the course. The course was a very positive experience. On Saturday evening I was tired but very happy, and I did not feel any special pain as I had expected.”

“I’ve practised a few years now and previously had very big problems with pain in my back and joints. For example, I used to find it difficult to move around and to walk. Soon I noticed that things were starting to happen in my body, and therefore I continued to practise and repeat courses. There’s a huge difference in my health now as compared to before. I highly recommend repeating courses. The atmosphere during this course has been great, with nice people and in a pleasant environment.”

Broken wrist

I broke my wrist in December. I feel it got better this weekend. For example, the swelling has gone down considerably.”

Wanted to do something good

“I wanted to do something good for myself this year. On Saturday night I was tired but very happy. I will continue to practise.”

“I have thought a long time about qigong because of the pain that I had for many years, and to get peace of mind. Now after the course I feel softer in my shoulders and neck.”

Stress and allergies

“I have asthma and have been practising off and on for several years. I find that qigong helps me a lot, especially in reducing stress. If I practise daily, I notice a real difference in how I feel. My body has also become much more supple. Previously, I had pain in my shoulders, but I no longer need massage. Skin tests have also verified that I got rid of allergies to animal fur and molds. I think this has been a really nice weekend.”

Depression

“I have practised for many years, more or less frequently. In the past I have occasionally been very depressed and taken antidepressants, which I could stop doing several years ago. The prognosis of my doctors, however, was that I would have to take antidepressants for life, but it’s great to get rid of this.”
