John and Simon – Why I Return to the Summer Course Year After Year
Read about why John returns to the Summer Courses every year. Nowadays he joins the Summer Course together with his son Simon.
John
“To participate in the Summer Course is obvious to me nowadays”
The Summer Courses give me a lot. Apart from the training, one always reaches new insights and experiences and it is also fun to meet all the others who are practising. The training makes me feel strong, calm, alert and happy, and more focused. After a Summer Course, I am motivated to practise more at home.

Simon
“Everyone here is very nice, and I really enjoy being here”
This is the third year that I am attending the Summer Course and it is the second year I am participating in the training. I attended my first week-end course when I was six years old. It is fun to come here and meet all my friends who I only meet here at the courses. Everyone is very nice, and I really enjoy being here. I have also become friends with some adults. The training gives me energy and I feel happier after a course. After the Summer Course I also feel calmer. And I can more easily focus. I feel that the qigong training helps me in every way. Me and my dad practise together at home!
”The Training Allows me to Handle my Illness Better”

Falling ill can be overwhelming and leave you feeling powerless, especially during a long-term illness. Read more about participants who get relief from being able to influence their wellbeing.
Camilla
“I’ve made such progress. Today I have a tool with which I can influence my life and my health. I feel a confidence and a security in Qigong. If I feel bad I practise more. The feeling of being able to influence myself is of great importance. I don’t feel like a victim of a chronic disease even though I’m far from healthy. Today, I can handle my bad times better mentally in a whole new way. But these come more seldom and the pain is less severe.”
Erika
“The training helps me handle my disease better. I can keep a distance and I feel mentally stronger.”
Lene
“I associate qigong with possibilities and hope – a self training art where I can influence my situation myself.”
Petra
“The training makes me happy and it makes me glad to be able to rule my body. Qigong is a wonderful way to move and at the same time get fast improvements – both physically and mentally. I never thought the results would come this fast. Best of all is that I can practice every day and almost at any place!”
Björn
“My thoughts about my own life, my dreams and ambitions have changed. Now I do not want to do things which do not give me more energy and joy. Life is too precious not to be respected and part of the respect of my own life is definitely my continued Qigong training.”
Elisabeth
”Qigong gives me the strength to make choices that I know benefits my wellbeing”

Åsa – Why I Come Back to the Summer Course Year After Year
”As a result of my attending the Summer Courses I cope with autumn in a better way”
”I joined my first Summer Course in 2011 and have since attended all 18 days each year. In the beginning I returned to the Summer Courses because of my migraine. That problem has gradually got better since I started to practice qigong. But in recent years I come not only for my physical health but also because the training has given me an inner calm. As a result of my attending the Summer Courses, I cope with my work a little better when autumn comes. I also have more motivation and can manage both everyday life and my family life better.”

“There was a great improvement with the migraine in the spring of 2012, but also in other areas of my health. In the past, I had several migraine attacks a month but now these attacks have become considerably milder and if they come at all, they have nearly no effect on me. I used to take preventative medicines which I do not need anymore. I knew nothing about qigong when I started practicing EZQ. A friend who used to have problems with his back had become better by practicing qigong told me about EZQ. So I just wanted to test because I too had stiff shoulders and neck. My first impression was that everyone was so open and warm. I liked it.”
”Now, I can keep calmer even in stressful situations.”

More and more people feel stressed in their daily life. Read about how some of our participants experience less stress after starting to practise European Zhineng Qigong.
Lilian
“I still think my best results are the mental results. Now I can keep calmer even in stressful situations. I don’t get involved in the stress in the same way; I keep it at a distance. I’m learning to take one thing at the time even though there is a lot of pressure.”
Daniel
“I have also had problems with stress and fatigue. Shortly after I started practising again the qigong training resolved these problems. Now I feel stronger than before I got these symptoms and feel both calmer and happier. I’ve also got a lot more energy in general.”
John
“I have had results from practising. I feel more alert, calmer and stronger and I can handle stressful situations. I have a demanding job and I am convinced that I wouldn’t have managed so well if I hadn’t practised.”
Anna
“If I come home from work and I’m speeded up, my thoughts are very well diverted after practising. I get to see things from other perspectives. After practising things just fall off from me. It’s great!”
Ulrika
“Qigong has helped me to handle situations that before would have made me stressed or sad.”
We arrange courses in different locations, read more about our courses here.

Now We Start the Spring Term 2018
More than 80 participants gathered during Epiphany to participate in the Summer Course training together. For many it was a happy reunion with the friends you have got to know during Summer and Winter Courses but also a great opportunity to get started with the training after the Christmas holidays. In conjunction with the course Su Dongyue held a lecture and the course EasyCare for the eyes, both of which were well-visited and well-liked.
Now we continue the spring term with both weekly practice and many courses. The first basic courses in Hold Qi Up are arranged January 20-21 in Gothenburg and Gran. Then follows Bergen January 27-28. After that comes the weekend of February 3-4 when we arrange courses at several locations, such as Stockholm, Kalmar, Alingsås and Ekenäs, when you have the opportunity to learn or repeat the exercise. Check out more and sign up on the course schedule. You who want to participate in this year’s Winter Course can register here directly.
Bright Spots in the November Darkness – the Autumn Courses 2017

This year’s Autumn Courses were arranged in Karis, Finland and Bergen, Norway during November month. Our Autumn Courses are four days long residential Courses where the participants live, eat and practice together in separated and scenic environments. During the Autumn Course in Finland we stay at Lärkkulla Folk High School, situated on an elevation with pine trees in the south of Finland. The Norwegian course we arrange outside of Bergen in Dyrkobotn Fjellstove with a view of mountains as well as valleys and a beautiful lake. During the Autumn Courses we practice and deepen into what we have learned during a basic course in Hold Qi Up but we also try some Summer Course training.
This year’s participants in both Finland and Norway were very happy with the courses. A lot of them was happy about the inclusive atmosphere and feeling of community among the participants. Here are some pictures from the days.

The participants drank a lot of tea during the course in Karis, a nice way to gather during the breaks.
During the Autumn Courses we practice a lot of Hold Qi Up and have time to go through the exercise properly, among other things by getting a lot of help with corrections.
Practice in the training hall in Bergen. The atmosphere was very nice during the course.
The tea-making lists which are frequently used in Finland is an appreciated way of giving many the opportunity to help out. Traditionally the list was also used during this Autumn Course.
We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Another term has gone by and we thank you all for the laughter and happy faces and all the good effort you put into your training! Together we have created many amazing courses that we can remember with warm feelings during these bustling, rushing days before Christmas.
A lot of fun awaits us in the months to come, so we will keep on training as we always do!
In January we do EasyCare Eyes and a lecture by Dongyue Su followed by the Summer Course training. Then follow some weekend courses and weekly group trainings and also the Winter Course that so many of you love. If you haven’t yet registered, you can do so here.
Now, in December, we have snow here and there but we can remember days with thawing and slush too. Here are some photos of our participants, we hope those fond summer memories will never weaken.
You may be busy with Christmas preparations, like baking and maybe some Christmas carols but
we send all of you our warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from European Zhineng Qigong!

Postcard From Nossebro
After four days of intense and rewarding training, the first half of Summer Course one has passed. Participants have already been able to share their health improving results, such as retrieved joy of life after a heart surgery and shoulder pain that has disappeared. On Saturday the time came for half a day off with excursion and cabaret. For those of us who chose to join, the organised trip went this year to Västergötlands museum in Skara. Others chose to go to “the Strawberry’s day” in Vara, to café Magnolia at the outskirts of the Vara plateau or to stay in Nossebro and take it easy. Here one can find Elin’s café and Elin’s bakery where many of the participants took the opportunity to have a coffee together. Before the evening’s cabaret, there was also time to take a walk in the sun, to do some laundry or to buy some new clothes at Aina’s. The day ended with song-and music-performances at the course’s usual cabaret. In not too long it is time for Summer Course two, sign up here if you have not already done so.

Thinking of What to Pack for the Summer Course?
Very soon the summer courses are here and there are many who will take the course for the first time. With you in mind we have put together a proposal for a packing list that you can use to get some inspiration when it is time for you to start packing. We also gathered tips from experienced summer course participants about things that might be good to bring. If you where to forget something at home, it is not the whole world. Grocery stores and a pharmacy are within walking distance. Please note that the older 1, 2 and 5-krona and the older 100 and 500-krona are becoming invalid after June 30 due to the banknote and coin changeover. We do not have the means to handle payment with the expiring money.
You can get a copy of the list here.

Does sitting in front of the computer tire you out? Practising Qigong can help you!
A lot of work in front of the computer and sitting still for a long time can be a strain on the body. It can make you stiff and tired, reduce your ability to concentrate, and cause headaches and pains in shoulders and neck.
If you have spent more time in front of the computer during the last months, practising Qigong can be a way of removing the bad effects of sitting still for a long time.
*Think of your posture when sitting in front of the computer
Alternate between standing and sitting if possible, and keep your posture straight but at the same time relaxed. During our basic courses we teach how to stand and sit in a way that is relaxed and can help us to conserve our energy instead of getting worn out. How we stand and sit has an impact on our health and the more we use the body in a good way the better we will feel.
*Take short breaks for training during the working day.
One way to avoid health problems due to too much sitting down is to find a moment to train during the working day. Practising Qigong is a good method to improve the circulation without working up a sweat. The practise does not take much time since you do not need to shower afterwards. If you have already attended our courses and are now working from home – practise Hold Qi Up, Shenxin Qigong or La Qi, even just a short while, during your working day.
*Do not forget the eyes
A general feeling of tiredness often starts with the eyes. Several hours in front of the screen or reading can tire the eyes and it is good to give them some rest from time to time. An idea can be to let the eyes shift focus, i.e. look away from the screen and instead look at something further away. A more powerful way of relaxing the eyes we teach in the course ‘EasyCare for Eyes’. By taking a break from your work in front of the computer and doing the ‘EasyCare for Eyes’ the health of your eyes can improve. The eyes influence the rest of the body so the practise is also good for general well-being throughout the body.
