Anna’s back is much better

I’ve had problems with the small of my back for a long time. For over ten years I practiced in a gym to strengthen the muscles in my back and my legs. The problems were gone for some years but came back again a couple of years ago. I had never tried Qigong before even though I was curios as I was unsure about the quality of all the different Qigong methods. Not until a friend heard about Zhineng Qigong did I decide to give it a try. First I tried a drop-in training to see what it was and in the autumn 2005 I attended a weekend course. It made me curios to learn more. After the course I kept practicing at home. I liked the training very much.

Acid indigestion

Quite soon I noticed that the training influenced my stomach, which has been problematic since I was young with e.g. acid indigestion periodically. About a month before the course I had been to a doctor to get medicine as my acid indigestion suddenly got worse. Some periods I was on different health products to cure myself. Practicing Qigong made the indigestion disappear. Now I haven’t used any health products in very long time. Sometimes the problems come back but they don’t last as long as before. Sometimes I have to take a pill from the pharmacy, but it’s enough with a single one. It seems like the training makes the pill work better. Obviously something happens with my stomach when I practice.

Stable weight

I’ve always been thin and I’ve had problems to gain weight. My physical training, gym and running finally made me even thinner. Food has not been a problem as I eat well. I even went to see a nutritionist but it didn’t help much. My weight has become more stable since I started to practice Qigong. It seems as my old way of practicing made my body stressed.

Still I can be stiff when I wake up in the morning but the stiffness disappears when I practice. During the day I don’t feel anything. My back is more stable now and I think the problems will completely disappear. Qigong teach me a good standing posture and to correct my swayback, which might be one reason for my problems. I get more and more conscious about how I use my body which is important for a good health.

Practice mentally

I’ve also joined a six week project and a four day training course. It was interesting to practice together with the more advanced students – not to speak about how beautiful it was to see them doing the movements. Many people practicing together make the training stronger. It’s easy to think that Qigong would be fuzzy but it’s not. Lately I’ve come to understand that we practice mentally as much as physically. This makes Qigong so exciting! It’s fantastic to have found this method, which practices both body and mind.
