Hold Qi up Karis [2005-11-19]

In Västra Nylands Folkhögskola, a college for further education, beutifully situated on a lake in the city of Karis, Finland, we arranged our first course on November 19-20. More than 20 beginners and a number of repeating students participated in this basic course in Hold Qi Up, as well as in the lecture the evening before the course. The students got actively involved in the course and many happy laughters were heard. The will to learn was strong, and so was the ambition to keep up their own practice after the course. A new course is already planned for March of 2006.

Some comments from the participants:

"I took my first course in Hangö this autumn, three months ago. It feels good and it's fun to keep practicing. At work they say that they can see that I feel better."

"Two years ago I hit the wall. No, I went right through the wall and fell down into the basement. I was lucky enough to find a Chinese doctor, who treated me using acupuncture and herbal treatments. He recommended that I start practicing qigong, but I wasn't mentally ready until this autumn. Then I participated in the course in Hangö; I felt then that I would continue using this method, but it wasn't until this course that I realized that what I had been looking for can be found in qigong. Something has opened up inside me, I could feel this particularly well this morning during the first practice session. This has been a fantastic weekend!! I have found what I was looking for!"

"This is my first course. To be honest, I've been waiting for this type of training for a long time. I've had a lot of thoughts and problems that end up in my shoulders. Yesterday, I had a very strong sensation when doing la qi. Time and space disappeared, all my thougths disappeared. I would like to reach a point where I don't feel stress and can handle my problems. I will definitely continue coming to courses."

"I've caught this from my sister. She took a qigong course In Åland this autumn, and she has kept calling me to tell me that I have to go to a course, and here I am. I think this will be good for me. It has such incredibly beautiful movements. Yes, feels good! I will attend a new course."

"This is my first course. I had a lot of pain in my legs when I came here. Now it feels like the blood circulation in my legs is working again.

"I used to catch a lot of colds before, at least once a month. Now I haven't had a cold to speak of for five years. I used to get motion sickness before, when I travelled by car, bus or boat. Now that has disappeared completely. I have a tool that I can use to affect my health. Everything works better now, both at home an at work. Qigong is the best thing that has happened to me."

"I came here because my mind is gone. It's all over the place. My body has been going numb. I'm not really myself. During these two days I feel like I've found myself. Here I am."

"This is my first course. It's been a positive experience. I've tried to keep active, e.g. by nordic walking and horseback-riding, but the movements have been too violent, so they have only lead to more pain. Yesterday, I felt really alert."
