The course had attracted participants of all ages, both curious beginners and old qigong practitioners. The atmosphere was good and the participants were active. Below follow a few comments:

Relaxation

“I find it easier to relax and fall asleep since I started practising qigong. If I have trouble sleeping, I just go through the relaxation exercises in my head and then I usually fall asleep before I finish. I have not gotten around to practising lately for different reasons, so now it is time to get started again.”

Want to prevent age ailments

“I have participated in a few weekend courses before and practised quite regularly for 5-10 years, but during the last year I have somewhat forgotten to practise. But I have nothing against the training and with increasing age one gets some ailments, so I guess one should continue.”

Better back

“I have practised for about three years. Qigong mainly helps me to handle my allergies and my bad back. My back is much better. This has been an effective and good course. I felt like I needed it.”

“I attended my first course in Hold Qi Up this fall. I have seen many benefits from practising, especially in my back. The body regulation is good and the movements are simple so my back can rest. I regularly participate in the weekly practice group and I also try to practise at home, even though it is difficult to find the time. Repeating the course was useful. I noticed several details which I have not done completely correctly.”

Positively surprised

“This was my first course. I was looking for some type of relaxation and getting my body stretched was an extra bonus. I have quite bad shoulders, but they were not sore at all afterwards, which they usually get after other types of training. After the course yesterday I felt quite vigorous. I am quite eager to continue.”

“I am positively surprised. I imagined some kind of standing meditation. The fact that we get to move as much as we did was a surprise.”

Inner strength

“I have practised for many years. My body awareness has improved significantly. Three years ago we started a practice group in Karis. It made me more active. I have participated in a summer course and two autumn courses. I’m trying to learn how to tackle challenging situations in a more positive way. I have not had any physical problems, but I want to have more inner strength. To this course I was ready to bring my children for the first time. Now we can practise together and I can help them. Children have many demands put on them and then qigong can be a support. For me it has become a way of life.”

Teacher:

Margareta Willner-Rönnholm

Drifts of newly fallen snow served as the backdrop for this year’s first Hold Qi Up course in Karis.
